V3 Weekend 11-1-08

V3-Weekend is the first weekend event sponsored by Chester County Council, BSA specifically geared towards High School and early College youth. The activities where a little more unusual than what you might see at a Scouting event. The COPE Course was open. The Climbing tower and rappelling wall were open. They tried to open the zip line, but a swarm of bees had a different agenda for the day.

Normally 22 caliber rifles are on the rang, but today larger caliber, shot gun, and hand guns were available to try. Even tomahawk throwing was available to try. Fly tyeing and casting, as well as paper making and screening where activities that everyone could try.

I was there with the squeeze box and dark obstetrical course, the portable cave as the caving station. My object was not just to let them try the activities, but to encourage them to seek out Dragon Breath Grotto to try caving. I was armed with brochures, a display, and loads of other information about caving and Dragon Breath.

But the main attraction for my station, just like last year, was the squeeze box. There was pretty much a steady flow of people going threw and trying their best. We had a couple people going threw to defend their title and reputation from last year of squeezing the smallest.

This year's smallest squeeze was a two way tie. Catlin from Crew 95 and Drew from Crew 543 both made 6”. Congratulations to them both.

Hope to see everyone again next year.

Enjoy all the picture from the caving station.
